Geralt brought the beer to his lips, but as he was about to taste it, Yennefer clicked by, snatching it from his hand as she went. Geralt’s eyes hooded irritably, and sitting across from him at the table, Iorveth laughed.
Iorveth laughed. Geralt still couldn’t reconcile himself to Iorveth laughing. But Iorveth had every reason to laugh these days.
With the help of two witchers, two sorceresses, Mahakaman reinforcements, and droves of Scoia’tael, Saskia conquered Aedirn in a dramatic final battle -- not that it was too difficult: the war with Nilfgaard left everyone ravaged. Even Vergen suffered losses during the

Ciri came to a halt under the dome of the gazebo. Eredin, the King of the Wild Hunt, sat on a wooden bench, calmly regarding her. “Caedmil,” he whispered sadly.
Ciri was silent. She didn’t want it. She didn’t want sad whispers, kisses, or sorrowful glances. She just wanted it to be over. Once and for all.
Nearby, the Whisper trickled softly. It was the name of the stream, which in Elder Speech was called the Tuathe. Kelpie stood below on the bridge, snorting softly and tossing her black mane. The world of Aen Elle was beautiful as ever with its reaching alders, little rivers, flowers and butterflies, and

“Wow,” Yennefer whispered, black curls in her violet eyes. She was lying on her back, staring at the ceiling. One arm was above her head, and her milky breasts were riding as she sought to catch her breath.
Geralt lay beside her, likewise staring at the ceiling, bare chest likewise heaving. “Yen,” he said, embarrassed, “everyone in the castle . . . and, hell, probably in Nilfgaard . . .”
“I had something to scream about, so I did,” she said. She looked over at him around the sweep of her black curls, her violet eyes electric with desire, with affection. Her lips were parted as she

“Do not make a half-elven child, Zireael. You will be sorry. And so will the child,” Iorveth slurred, and the hand that held the demijohn pointed a finger at Ciri. She could smell the Mahakaman Mead on his breath.
“Iorveth, that’s terrible. Don’t listen to him, Ciri, he’s drunk,” Saskia said, and as she was passing behind Iorveth, she reached over his head, snatched the demijohn from him, and kept walking. Her silver armor jingled as she left the room.
Iorveth scowled and cursed Saskia in elvish. When she was gone, he looked at Ciri again, his green eye thoughtful and flat with resent. T

“Perhaps because you’re sixteen years old?” Geralt said through tight lips.
Ciri shook her head and tossed her hands. “I’m twenty-one, Geralt!”
Oh, right. Geralt pinched the flesh between his eyes. She would always be sixteen to him. Didn’t she understand that? He looked up and saw Yennefer watching him fondly. She sat at the corner table with him, resplendent in a black dress and sparkling jewelry, and he couldn’t believe how calm she was being about everything. When he saw that boy kissing Ciri, touching her . . . he had wanted to break something.
They were in Yennefer’s a

“I’m thinking of making Iorveth my king,” Saskia said seriously, but there was a happy spark in her eye as she looked at Yennefer.
Sitting back in her uncomfortable stone chair, Yennefer lifted her brows in surprise. She and Saskia were in the council chamber of The Castle of the Three Fathers, where Saskia had asked to speak to Yennefer. They had shared a bottle of Cintrian Faro for several minutes in silence before Saskia spoke.
With her forearm resting on the table, Yennefer’s fingers twirled her glass and she stared at Saskia thoughtfully from her mass of black curls. It had been a long day – ma

“Of course you would say this,” Ciri heard Iorveth shout in his growling voice on the other side of the door, “because you do not know what it is to fight dh’oine!”
“Do not presume to tell me what I do or do not know, elf!” Yennefer shouted back. “We all have our battles --!”
“What do you battle with?” Iorveth scoffed contemptuously. “A curling iron?”
Listening outside the door, Ciri bit her lip. After the battle with Henselt, a reunited Geralt and Yennefer had been inseparable, spending so much time locked together in Yennefer’s apartments with

The day of the battle with Henselt, Yennefer donned her new dress. If there was one thing she could say about Iorveth, he had good taste. Like all her dresses, this new one was black and low cut, with white ruffled trim around the cleavage and the cuffs of the long sleeves. What made the dress exceptional was the lovely material it was made from; the soft, silky caress of the skirts against her legs was wonderful. The dress was presented to her along with a matching black choker and high-heeled boots. Saskia also gave her an apartment of her own within the castle, so she was now free of having to share Dandelion’s tiny room

When Geralt and Ciri awoke the next morning, Triss was no where to be seen. They went in search of her only to discover that she was tied to a pole in front of St. Lebioda hospital, about to be burned at the stake. A large crowd had gathered and people were shouting for her death, murmuring and pointing, while nearby, the city guards held the people back with their pikes. More guards were busy trekking back and forth with wood. A nice pyre was being erected around Triss’ boots, and she stood there helpless and miserably resigned, her red hair in her face and streaming in the wind.
Geralt and Ciri pushed their way through th

True to his word, Geralt rented a room at The Hairy Bear. Ciri was sleeping peacefully and he was sitting the edge of the bed, examining Iorveth’s impressive steel blade, when Triss swept in. He froze and looked at her small face, pinched as it was with anger, and he suddenly realized why she hadn’t wanted to go back to the Trade Quarter.
Sensing a lecture, Geralt’s yellow cat eyes hooded and he sheathed Iorveth’s sword on his back again. “What now, Triss?” he said, rising to his feet. He started unbuckling his scabbard, regarding her wearily as he did so.
Triss came in the room and shut the d
